Courtney manage to block Nicholas' blow. It was one like one of her first blows she gave her father that he easily blocks her as well as she did when she blocked Nicholas. He hit blows a lot softer than she gives. Courtney could guess that neither Nicholas and tiara could not give her kind of blows. She heard Spike asking Tiara about Queen. Courtney's scar went on fire again. After a minute it went away. Courtney gave another blow for Nicholas to block. This time she went another direction than the first blow.
"Did you get what Spike said, Tiara?"

Nicholas tried to block it, but when he tried, the sword went flying out of his hand and landed in the wall of the castle. "Uh-oh...."

Courtney manage to stop her blow when Nicholas' sword fell out his hand. His sword landed in the wall of the castle. She did something like that when Her father was teaching the same thing she is teaching Tiara and Nicholas. She know that she get the sword out. It had to taken out by a blacksmith who was train to be tough and strong.l, Because they have forge Metal.
"I did that too. When I was learning this. Expect my went into the stone of the house. Not the castle. I am sure I could pulled it out." Courtney wen t over to the wall. Amphora stay where she was. She was sitting up instead laying down make her tail swish. She pulled out he sword without manage trouble. She handed the sword back to Nicholas.
"Okay. Let's try that again."

"Okay, thank you." Nicholas swung the blade, aiming for Courtney's sword, it was going straight towards it. Just that second, spike transfered some of his strength to Nicholas.

Tiara Jade whistled lowly, honestly impressed by the sword in the wall. "Nice strength, you two." Compliments were not beyond her--they just weren't something she bothered handing out very often.
As her two students continued their practice, she worked on her grip, and experimented with a few different strokes, trying to find out what felt natural... and what just about made her tip over. She wasn't used to swinging about a big heavy metal stick like this thing. Give her a dagger to shove in her enemy's back, any day.

Spike was bored, so he decided to ask Master Tiara a few questions. So, why do humans use big metal thingies?

Courtney manage to block his sword, It had a lot more strength than the one he gave a minute ago. She guess that Spike put some of his own strength into it. Courtney didn't need Amphora's strength unless if she really need it. She made another blow in another direction. She heard spike asking Tiara about the big metal thingies?

Nicholas dodged this one, and swung again, once again aiming for Courtney's sword.
((OOC: the big metal thingies are swords.))

Tiara Jade grinned down at the little pink dragon as she shifted her feet. It felt like she was best balanced if she stood... like this. Well, little one, she replied with an air of amusement, have you looked at your Rider lately? No claws, dull teeth, has two of his legs hanging limp most of the time, doesn't even have a tail--he's pretty useless in a fight, isn't he? She was very close to laughter. These 'big metal thingies' help to make us worthy to fight next to your kind. The fact that the dragon was so small, and so pink, made 'worthy' a rather interesting word choice.
Spike was such a child. Innocent. Tiara Jade tried to remember a time when Queen had been like that. Or had the mud brown dragon been born arguing?

But can't humans use magic?

Courtney block Nicholas blow. He did well when he dodge under her last blow. She started another blow. This blow is simple but hard when starting out. It took Courtney two weeks to learn it. The blow came from another direction. One that was a little tricky. She heard spike ask about magic.
I know the riders can use magic.

They can, indeed. She gave a nod to the little dragon, and another to Courtney. Not just the Riders, either, though it is rare among normal humans. But think, she swung her blade, mimicking the blow Courtney had just delivered, you have magic as well. Why do you have teeth, then, or claws? She questioned the little dragon right back. Perhaps he was still too young for questions that required a higher level of thought, but she wished for the other three to think upon it, as well. Why have spare weapons, when your primary one was so good?

Cause dragons can't do magic on purpose. Like when I sent those pieces of meat flying towards Nicholas last night.
Nicholas tried to jump over this blow, but it hit his legs. He fell, but got right back up, and swung again.

Courtney blocked Nicholas next blow. Amphora was listening to Tiara. Courtney saw Amphora do stuff than Courtney herself couldn't do with magic. But at that time Courtney didn't know that it was magic that Amphora was doing. Amphora did dive into water once and came back with a whole net of fish. They didn't stave during that time. She didn't make another blow at Nicholas.
"Okay. Nicholas switch with Tiara. After Tiara is done than we will have a lesson tomorrow. The lesson will be about the same time we did it today."

Tiara Jade gave a little sigh. No, the hatchling was not up for higher order thinking. The most simple answer she could think of for her own question was another: What would happen when your primary weapon failed you? Tiara herself currently had seventeen different ways of killing someone hidden about her person. Just because she favored her dagger did not mean she could not defend herself if she lost it. In fact, she could defend herself rather well. She just couldn't launch an attack very effectively. She didn't answer the little dragon. Instead, she lowered her sword from the overhand strike she was attempting--"attempting"--being the key word, and waited to switch places with Nicholas. Her turn, was it? Well, no one said a teacher couldn't look like a fool.
